I rarely will do this to you all and get all technical and such but this is a very cool wine and I am kindergarten level on Georgian wines so we're going to do it for this. Rkatsiteli is one of Georgia's oldest grape varieties which dates back to 3000 BC. 3000 BC! The wine is made in the traditional Georgian winemaking method: it is fermented and aged in Qvevri (clay pots) and has skin contact for six months. SIX MONTHS! This method is definitely giving complexity and texture to the amber colored wine but still has light tannins. This wine is heady. So grab a friend and talk about it over a meal and the ways the flavors are changing and evolving as it opens up more and boast all the cool facts you just learned. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
