Vin De California is LA’s singular natural winery making wine in Los Angeles this year, set to open its much anticipated doors this fall. Both multigenerational native Angelenos, Kate and Adam Vouvoulis’s winemaking style is unapologetically Californian, one of the many reasons why their wines are among my most favorite in the contemporary California landscape. Arrakis owes its name to a fictional desert plain in the iconic 1965 Sci Fi novel Dune. In the novel, Arrakis is the singular destination where spice is found in the planet Dune, where it plays a significant role in the commerce of their civilization, functioning as a unique treasure. Drinking Arrakis feels like taking a zipline down PCH, while sipping some ice cold Cranberry-Rasberry Ocean’s Spray. What ends up in the glass is a crushable textured wine with hints of ripe berry fruit, perfect for opening beachside as we cling to these treasured lingering sundrenched days. Cheers to pure CA jus. -Sonya T.
