"Although picked a week earlier than in 2019, the 2020 ‘pink lemonade’ was slightly riper than the previous year due to the heat of the 2020 season. The goal of picking a bit riper was to create a wine with more depth of flavor but with the same backbone of acidity.
Just as in 2019, the Abouriou and Colombard were picked as a field blend, each variety making up about half of the blend. Upon arrival at the winery the blend was foot crushed, cofermented whole cluster on skins for a week, and then basket pressed to stainless steel to finish fermenting. Once dry, the wine was transferred to neutral oak barrels to age for 6 months, sur lie.
“pink lemonade” looked like electric pink lemonade during fermentation and was named as such.
